Bruno filled our hearts with such joy and love that we will always remember him. Even though our part in Bruno's life was a small one, we are happy to have spent some time with him. We quickly fell in love with his loyal and loving personality.

Bruno was first found by Becky Steele in West Virginia while he was wandering homeless, fur matted and emaciated. He was very timid and terrified to go inside her home. Becky nurtured him back to health in several ways. He has grown not only in size but in confidence and personality as well. Bruno is fully house trained, wonderful with children, cats and dogs, and loves to play. Becky has done such acts of kindness before and continues with the Southern West Virginia Animal League (SWVAL) fostering animals in need and finding them new homes. Soon after Becky posted Bruno's photo online, announcing that he was ready for adoption, it was found by Mona Morrissey. She began to put things in motion to get Bruno out to Kansas so that she and her family could provide him much needed love. With help from SWVAL Secretary, Brandi Massey, Bruno found his way onto our truck to begin his journey from West Virginia to Topeka Kansas, where he would finally find his home. You can contact SWVAL at http://www.southernwvanimalleague.org/

We knew, of course, St. Bernard Mix meant, at the very least, big and furry. Yet, we were still surprised when we arrived to pick Bruno up from Becky Steele. He weighs about 73 lbs. which puts him at about half the size of a pure bred St. Bernard. Though, smaller in size, he has enough fur for three full size St. Bernards! Maintaining our truck was difficult while Bruno was on board. He needed to be lifted into the truck after each walk and while in the truck he took up much of the floor space. We patiently maneuvered around him and spoke to him in soothing tones. Already captivated by his gentle kindness, we settled in for our journey. Onward, to Kansas. Homeward bound. This is part one of Bruno's story. We enjoyed our time with him so much and took so many pictures that one posting does not do him justice. Please click on More Bruno Blogs to see parts two and three when they are published.

Bruno's journey took him from WV through MD to PA and then home to KS.
