The military is my favorite customer to work for.  Of course, I’m not dealing direct with the Surface Command of the Department of Defense, but I go through 3PLs (3rd Party Logistics companies) to organize the moves.  It’s not that the money is a lot better because sometimes it is, sometimes it’s not.  But it’s the pride of transporting for our nation’s hero’s and helping out in my little way that is so rewarding.  As a veteran and a reservist who is in the last years of my career, I’m happy to hand the nation’s defense off to the younger generation and support them with my truck and trailer.

Moving freight for the military is a little different than regular customers.  Some of the freight is classified and I couldn’t discuss or write about it here.  So far, the only military freight that I’ve hauled have been trucks, tents, boats and repair parts so definitely nothing top secret. This particular load is an old aircraft refueler truck that has been totally refurbished all the way down to the last piece.  The military saves a lot of money by doing this instead of buying new equipment.  I picked the truck up in Alabama and delivered it to an Air Force Base on the east coast.  Securing one truck is SO must easier than securing an entire load of cars like I used to do.  I don’t miss that at all!  So far, the step deck has been a great and profitable change in my operation.
