Sometimes, it’s so lonely being a business owner.

Being the owner of a small business is not only lonely at times, It’s hard work! Truckers, towers, movers, construction companies - I know what’s it’s like. Look at this episode of Road Grit, I’m at the Las Vegas Tow Show of 2015. What am I doing? Why did I do this video?... Because nobody else is doing it.

You need to be doing the same thing with your business. You need to be looking for ways to do things with your business that nobody else is doing. Why do I sit in an empty arena and film informative videos for the transportation industry? I have to deliver my message differently than my competition. You need to do the exact same thing in your business. If you own a towing company, you need to tow, tell your story, market your company, and sell your services differently than everyone else.

If you own a trucking company, you need to do the same thing. It’s not just delivering freight from point A to point B anymore. It’s about the value-added and storytelling. It’s about the unique product offerings and it’s really about expertise. In my new book “The Grit: The Only Thing You Need to Make Millions,” I talk about the concept. “Experts only, please!” Amateurs get crushed. You have to be an expert in your space. Oftentimes, this work is lonely. You have to get out in front of your business, folks. You have to be skilled enough to be an expert and then get to the marketplace to tell people about your expertise.

I have been running a successful equipment finance company for 20 years and I’m just now comfortable putting myself out here to tell my story. That’s why we launched, That’s why we’re doing educational videos for the Transportation Industry Specifically. I want you to do the same thing with your business. Let’s go through the journey together. Tell me your stories. Tell me what you’re doing differently.
