“My name is James hill, also known as Trainer James from YouTube. Before I got into trucking I had my own business. I installed satellite TV systems for about four or five years and then when the recession hit I lost everything; I lost my house, my car, and I lost my business. So, I had to find something else to do to make a living.

“As an uneducated man in his forties it was difficult to find a new career, so I looked into truck driving. When I first came out of training and got my own truck it was hard. I almost didn’t make it. I was trying to live on only five or six hundred dollars a week. When you first come out of training you make next to nothing and it makes it really hard, but I got through it and I’m glad I did.”

“Truck driving is a hard life. If you ever want to be a truck driver you need to consider the fact that you’ll be away from your family for extended periods of time. My wife’s birthday was last week and I missed it, I missed mother’s day, and I’ll be on the road during my birthday in a couple days. You have to make sacrifices when you have to take care of your family. My son’s birthday is in a couple of weeks and I’ve put in my home time in hopes that I’ll be able to be there for him. Nothing is guaranteed though and it may not happen. You can’t get upset about it though. That’s just the way it goes.”
